These terms and conditions apply to the Hacker Camera app (hereby referred to as “Application”) for mobile devices, created by Jane R. (hereby referred to as “Service Provider”). The Application is free to download and use, and offers an optional paid subscription described below.

By downloading or using the Application you agree to these terms. Please read them before using the Application.

Licence and intellectual property

The Service Provider grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the Application on devices you own or control. Unauthorised copying or modification of the Application or of the Service Provider’s trademarks is not permitted. Attempts to extract the source code of the Application, to translate it into other languages, or to create derivative versions are not permitted. All trademarks, copyrights, database rights and other intellectual property rights relating to the Application remain the property of the Service Provider.

Your content

Photos and videos you capture with the Application are yours. The Service Provider does not receive them, store them or claim any rights over them. You are solely responsible for what you photograph or record and for complying with the laws of your location, including laws on photography in public and private spaces, on recording audio, and on the privacy of other people. Where the Application writes location data or other telemetry into your files, you are responsible for deciding whether to share those files and for any information they carry. Both the burn-in of data into captures and the writing of GPS to metadata can be disabled in the Application’s settings.

Accuracy of readings — important

The readings shown by the Application are provided for reference and general interest only. They must not be relied upon for navigation, aviation, diving, professional measurement, safety-critical decisions, or any medical purpose.

In particular:

• Weather and UV index are supplied by a third-party public meteorological service and describe an area, not your exact position. They may be delayed, incomplete or unavailable.
• Light level is not read from a sensor. iPhone exposes no ambient light sensor to applications, so the value is computed from the camera’s exposure parameters and is an estimate.
• Ambient noise is a relative measurement from the microphone converted using a generic offset. It is not a calibrated sound pressure level and is not suitable for occupational or legal noise assessment.
• Thermal state is the system’s own coarse thermal level, not a chassis temperature reading.
• Network information shows the link type and generation, because iOS does not expose cellular signal strength to applications.
• Heart rate, blood oxygen, heart rate variability and body temperature are read from the Health app as historical samples written by other devices, most often an Apple Watch. They are displayed as-is, may be hours old, and are not a diagnosis. The Application is not a medical device and provides no medical advice. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for any health concern.
• GPS coordinates, altitude, speed and heading are subject to the accuracy limits of satellite positioning and of the device’s sensors, and may be significantly wrong indoors or in dense urban areas.

Availability, changes and charges

The Service Provider aims to keep the Application useful and efficient, and reserves the right to modify the Application, or to charge for it or its services, at any time and for any reason. Any charge will be made clear to you in advance. Some functions require an internet connection; the Service Provider is not responsible if the Application does not function fully because Wi-Fi or mobile data is unavailable or exhausted. If you use the Application outside a Wi-Fi area, your mobile network provider’s terms still apply and you may incur data or roaming charges, for which you accept responsibility. If you are not the bill payer for the device, you are assumed to have the bill payer’s permission.

Your device

It is your responsibility to keep your device secure and updated. The Service Provider advises against jailbreaking your device, which removes protections imposed by the operating system, may expose the device to malware, and may cause the Application to malfunction or not work at all.

Subscription

The Application is free to use. Without a subscription the viewfinder data stream is fixed to three readouts — the app tag, GPS coordinates and the clock — and the selection cannot be changed.

Hacker Camera Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription that unlocks the full field list, the per-group switches and the burn-in layout controls. It is offered as a monthly plan and a yearly plan. Prices are set per storefront by Apple’s price matrix and are always shown in the app before you confirm; the App Store converts them into your local currency.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel the subscription in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions on your device; deleting the Application does not cancel it.

The subscription is tied to your Apple Account, so it is available on every device signed in with that account. Use “Restore Purchases” on the subscription page to restore it on a new device. Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms of sale; the Service Provider cannot issue them directly.

If a subscription expires or is refunded, the Application keeps working as the free version and the data stream returns to the three fixed readouts. Your saved selection is retained and applies again if you resubscribe.

Third-party services

The Application retrieves weather and UV data from a third-party public service when you enable those fields. The Service Provider does not control that service and accepts no responsibility for the accuracy, availability or terms of any third-party service.

Limitation of liability

The Application is provided “as is” and without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. The Service Provider cannot accept responsibility for any loss arising from your reliance on the readings the Application displays, from loss of photos or videos, or from any interruption to the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Updates and termination

The Application may be updated from time to time, and the supported operating system requirements may change. You agree to accept updates offered to you. The Service Provider may cease providing the Application at any time without notice. Your rights under these terms end when you stop using and delete the Application; you may do so at any time by removing it from your device.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date. Continued use of the Application is regarded as acceptance of the changes.
